Cabernet Syrah 2013
An opulent and full bodied blend of estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah - Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) / Syrah (45%). Both Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes varieties were hand harvested and fermented separately in small batches. Both wines were then aged separately in a combination of French (50%) and American oak (50%) for sixteen months. Although the blend has been done for decades in Australia, this is a new concept in North America. It is also similar to the Super Tuscans made in Italy from Cabernet and Sangiovese. At the forefront of this union of flavors Kacaba Vineyards is taking the every day Australian model to a higher pedigree with our Escarpment grown heavily crop thinned premium fruit, small lot fermentation and manual punch-downs. The combination gives a lush cedar, tobacco Cabernet component with the exuberant blueberry fruit and slightly savage, leather character of Syrah.
