The winemaker, John Tummon and the proprietor, Michael Kacaba hand selected only the best barrels for our 2012 Reserve Syrah. Produced from our oldest vines coupled with an outstanding growing season vintage, a truly outstanding wine.
All fruit for this wine was hand harvested assuring only the best quality. The grapes were gently de-stemmed and transferred to stainless steel tanks for whole berry fermentation. Manual punchdowns and machine pumpovers were conducted two to three times daily. After fermentation, the wine was transferred to a combination of new and second fill French and American oak barrels. After sixteen months of aging, the wine was racked and blended into stainless steel tanks.
Elegant on the nose with aromas of dark red cherry, smoke, vanilla and spice. On the palate, tart cherry and cocoa bean is complimented with a hint of smoke and white pepper. Balanced acidity with medium weight make this wine a very food-friendly choice.
Savour this full bodied red on its own or match with grilled lamb, red meats and aged cheddar. Drink now or cellar to 2022.
